The great defeat V.02

I only slept for less than 3 hours last night and had 2 cups of coffee while at work today. Managed to stay awake and survived the entire day but my body was aching and I could feel that my head was spinning around while doing my work. Luckily there's no classes on Thursdays. Ahhh...the sacrifice I made just to watch the Champions League final match early in the morning heh. But turns out it was kinda disappointing and frustrating as well seeing that ManU has come this far and might have the chance to regain the trophy for another year BUT got defeated by Barca.

Hmmm...apparently most of the people in my Facebook list loathes ManU cos by the time the match ended, they were updating their status saying things like 'Yay Barcelona!' or 'Ashamed of you devils!' *le sigh* It's okayyyy, no biggie I mean not everybody has to like the club (MU) right? I thought the first half of the match was good. Lots of attacking and shots on goal by C. Ronaldo but it gets so frustrating when you thought it's gonna be a goal but yet, it is missed by minor mistakes or offsides. That's exactly how I felt when I was watching the entire match. Frustration. Throughout the match you could see how C. Ronaldo's temper is slowly building up probably because he really wants to score a goal but wasn't able to, hence leading him to lose his temper. (See proof below lol)

So in the end, Barca won by two goals scored by Eto'o and Messi. What to do laaaa...sometimes you win, sometimes you lose right? But look on the bright side, at least ManU still managed to win the Premiership title so it's still A-OK and it's not the end of the world. They'll be better next season *crosses fingers*.

Messi and Henry were too ecstatic that they had to dance the twist.

On a random note, I think that Josep Guardiola is a very good looking football coach haha.

Better luck next season for Man United lah. Well, I reckon I should really go to bed early but then I think the caffeine effect has kicked in which is why I am still wide awake now. Tomorrow's Friday already? 2 more weeks to head back home :) This weekend will be the Kaamatan festival, not that I can celebrate it here but hopefully I could still meet up with Anne and baby Lia (and do our own version of celebrating Kaamatan) before they fly off to KK next Monday.

Endless cycle

Ahhh...finally found the time for some updates. But before that, guess who came to visit?

Photobucket

Photobucket
Yes, my grand niece (sigh, feel so old sudah) and Anne are currently in town and I was able to meet them with Evor last Sunday andddd carry baby Lia for the first time ever! The last time I saw her, she was just one month old (back in January 09) and still very much fragile so I was kinda scared to carry something as fragile as her during that time. But now she's already 5 months old so, I'm not scared anymore yay! You know what's great about this baby? She's super friendly even when someone else besides her mummy and daddy carries her :) This type of baby suits me just right haha.

Well, it kinda sucks since I am not able to spend more time with 'em right now since I need to bloody work but hopefully the both of you will have tons of fun here okay? We'll meet again during the weekend. Anyway as I've mentioned, I've been WMAO and it feels like a never-ending cycle. If I don't have any classes on certain days (like Tuesday and Thursday), I'll have to do preparation for the upcoming classes or grading or more admin stuffs so I guess I could say that I am busier than ever. But in a way, it's kinda good to be busy cos once I reach home, I'll be feeling tired hence it'll lead me to go to bed early and avoid having insomnia. These days my sleeping time would be around 1am to 2am-ish, yes I do consider it early because few weeks before, my bedtime would be around 4am and that's just bad.

Okay, I'll probably gonna divide some parts to blog about here starting from...

Balik kampung
I've decided to go back to KK next month to attend my cousin Shah's wedding :) I've got 2 cousins (on my dad's side) who are getting married in the month of June but unfortunately I can only be able to attend one wedding reception. I was contemplating at first on weather I should go home or not seeing that it's currently not a term break in the college now but then since Shah was also one of the cousins that grew up together with me, I just thought of going back to witness his big day lah. Besides that, I miss home bah so going back for 5 days would be just grrreat. Err, I haven't actually applied my leave yet heheh...will do it by this week and hopefully it'll get approved la *crosses fingers*

Silk screen printing
In the month of april, I wrote that I've wanted to do silk screen printing but couldn't find the right time to do it since I was caught up with all the crazy admin works. So last Saturday, I decided to have an experiment on it. Borrowed the college's print room for this experiment and...well, it didn't turned out perfect but it's alright la because at least I did tried. Plus it's not like I can't do it all over again kan? Imma find a time to practice it again so that I could finally print something on a t-shirt :) Note to Anne: I'm so going to do the 'TEAM EDWARD' shirt like what we've talked about last Sunday. Just wait ok!

It was quite a tedious process but still, it was kind of fun.

I know I've been applying this tree design everywhere heh. I'm too lazy to design a different one bah.

American Idol
Kris Allen won. Am I happy? Hell yeah I am haha. Okay la, I am probably not a person who knows how to judge what's a really good voice or what's not since I normally just listen to any music that pleases my ears but...the thing about Kris Allen is, when he sings and performs he just makes me feel good and nice. I mean of course to compare his voice to Adam Lambert's, Lambert has a more powerful voice but maybe, (please note that this is only a mere opinion of mine, so don't start bashing me up for those who likes Adam) I just like someone who's humble and don't really go over the top (seriously, no offence) but yet still could perform well take example like Jason Mraz or John Mayer or Robin Thicke or even that HK singer Khalil Fong. That's what I feel when I see and hear Kris Allen or Danny Gokey performs. Sweet, simple and just nice.

I don't really find the big deal of Adam not winning because c'mon, with a great vocal and talent that Adam has I am sure he's gonna be successful as well bah. I mean there's no denying how crazy his vocal is right? You can see how Chris Daughtry is way more successful than that white hair dude...what was his name again? People will remember who Adam is...but I hope Kris and Danny will be successful too lah of course. So boys and girls, take a chill pill okay? And since American Idol is over, we can now put our focus on who's gonna win the UEFA Champions League between Manchester United and Barcelona, which will be on tomorrow morning yes/no? Totally psyched about this match wohoo!

Season finales
So the three shows (Greys, Gossip Girl & How I Met Your Mother) that I've been following religiously has come to an end as well. I liked the season 2 finale of Gossip Girl because *spoiler* Chuck finally confesses his feelings for Brooke yay! and Grey's Anatomy season 5 finale totally left me hanging by a moment! Gotta wait patiently for season 6 to come. I'll probably be bored for a while seeing there's nothing else to watch...oh wait, there's still Ugly Betty on TV and I can resume watching that Korean version of Boys Before Flowers (18 episodes left!)

Okay, there's probably more to blog about but I should really go to bed now or else I might risk waking up late.

WMAO

I've been WMAO (Working my Ass Off) for the past week hence there was no update here and already I felt that my blog is dying...*sigh* Will do some updates later at night, well hopefully I can lah. Till then, have a good week ahead.

Gesso, acrylic, indian ink on recycled corrugated board. Full view on my deviantart.

The last time I used acrylic was like back in year 2003? Yes, definitely ages ago. Wasn't exactly my favourite medium to use 'cos acrylic colours for me are not as easy to control unlike water colours but I told myself that once I get my salary, I would buy acrylic colours so that I can have different type of medium to experiment on from time to time. Art materials can really cost you a fortune! A bottle of gesso already cost RM20. Can you believe it?

On the other note, this year's Barclays Premier League title goes to...Man United. Yeshhhh! I did not even watched last night match 'cos I thought they were playing against Arsenal today but I'm sure/hope I'm not gonna miss the Champions League finals even if the match starts early in the morning :) Better luck next season Liverpool hehehe.

I haven't started preparing for tomorrow's class! I should be doing it right about now.
Happy Birthday to Eve and Jo who turned 25 today!

Black Heart Inertia

...is the title of Incubus's brand new single!

The band is releasing their Greatest Hits album called Monuments and Melodies on June 16th and I hope it's going to be available here! Brandon Boyd has a short hair-do now and I still like it ! *big wide smile*

My favourite contestant since the beginning of American Idol, Danny Gokey has been voted off this week! What in the world???? Okay, I know that I am torn between two lovers (wtf lol!) Danny and Kris BUT I've always thought he(Danny) will eventually make it to the finals. I've mentioned it to one of my colleagues on the first week of the top 13 show that Danny will definitely be in the finals. But sadly he didn't...sayang oh kan? *sigh* And yes I umm...did cried because I am emo like that :P

Here's another update on the rest of my classes during the past few days. On Wednesday, I wanted to show some slides to the students for their first lesson but apparently the classroom that has been arranged by the college doesn't have a projector plus the power supply in the classroom seems to have a problem hence I couldn't switch the computer on. Now this time, it wasn't me who screwed things up but it's that classroom! Why would they give me a classroom that doesn't have a projector when they already knew that that particular class requires it? So I've no choice but to show it next week *sigh*

Yesterday I had another solo class and this time around it was Computer Graphics class. Didn't realise that I talked soooo much during class that I had to keep drinking water every single minute. But the good thing about yesterday's class was that the students seem to learn very fast and did not even ask a single question. That's err...quite impressive I guess:) So this week so far has been okay despite some little itsy-bitsy things that tend to piss the shit out of me. Sometimes I wonder how did I get all my patience from?

I've mentioned that one of my goals this month was to do a painting to give one of my bestie on her birthday. So the past 3 nights or so, I decided to do the painting but in my honest opinion, I screwed a part of the painting and it's just sooo frustrating lah. I added some unnecessary elements there and now the entire painting doesn't look balanced anymore. I'll post the finished version as soon as I get it scanned. Meanwhile, the work in progress photos:

See that black outlined patterns on the left? That's the one that I'm talking about.

My sleeping time is better now though I still end up sleeping at 2am at the maximum, but it is way better than 2 weeks before. So yay! Oh have I mentioned that I have Saturday class this semester? Soooo many things to do lah...

Enjoy your weekend everybody!

Broken deal

Photobucket

Photobucket

I had a deal where, I will not or at least try not to take coffee everyday like I used to so that I'll be able to sleep earlier and I've been successfully doing that for the past 2 months well, at least for the coffee part. But today, I broke the deal because I was feeling so un-energetic at work. It feels like half of my body and mind is still sleeping and it must be a micracle that I still managed to finish my slides for tomorrow's class. So, had my caffeine fix (coffee was strong btw) already and I am pretty sure I'll have a hard time trying to sleep later.

Anyway, just a mini update on how my first class went. Well, surprisingly it went ok! Probably because I prayed really hard the night before heheh. The students seems to be responsive so it took away my nervous-ness being surrounded by them AND they even laughed at my jokes that I've attempted to make. It's lame la but at least they laughed so I'm taking that as a good sign, no?

The downside on the first class would be that masalah teknikal switching on the computer in the beginning of the class which made me running back to the main campus to seek help from the IT experts. The weather is driving me insane! Seriously the heat is almost unbearable now. I reached home from work today covered with sweat, loads of 'em.

Will need to do another lecture tomorrow. I'm not exactly 100 percent ready yet but then, I should be fine lah. Aight, Ugly Betty is airing soon. Babai!

Not prepared for mondayyy

You know, whatever I said about me looking forward to a new semester...well, I might wanna take that back 'cos the new semester starts tomorrow and I just found out on Friday that I am handling another subject all by myself on Monday morning! I am actually quite familiar with the subject (Finished Art) since I've took it during college time and tutored H about 3 semesters ago? But the thing is, NOBODY in my department has ever told me that I'm handling this subject hence making me not prepared for tomorrow! All these while, I've been sort of preparing for the other subjects that I knew I was going to teach but not Finished Art!

I'm not going to lie but I got really really pissed when I found out about it because WHY am I not informed all these freaking while? *sigh* Anyway, can't complain much cos whatever it is the class still needs to go on and *crosses my fingers and by God's will* everything will be okay when the first lesson starts tomorrow morning. So wish me luck people!

Arts For Grabs on Saturday was nice, I guess partly because the KL Alternatif Book Fair was held at the same time as well. Part of the reason why I wanted to go to Annexe was because I wanted to watch Marion D'Cruz's Gostan Forward solo performance BUT unfortunately I missed it because I decided to have lunch with Ivan before heading to Annexe. I would've cancelled the lunch but since I haven't seen him in a while, I thought of meeting him and just to catch with what's been happening around. So when I finally reached Annexe, the performance has already ended. It took me friggin' one hour just to reach Pasar Seni. *sigh* I probably have mentioned it before that I never liked going down to KL during weekends cos of the traffic and crowd. Cannot tahan bah.

Didn't took much photos when I was in Annexe but here's Flanny's photo for KL Photo Awards hee~
It's the one on the far right.

This was taken on the way to the bus station in Kota Raya.

Well, tomorrow will be a good day I hope and no screwing up on the first lesson! Have a good week ahead everybody. Peace out.

Random random

Few random things I wanna blog about today:

Random things 1

Ivan sent me this picture not so long ago, way before the Wolverine movie was released here and I love the entire mood of this picture. Check out Ryan Gosling's Reynolds's arm. Anyway, went to watch the movie last night and...for me it's just an okay movie lah. Not sucky but just okay. Somehow I was hoping for it to give more impact like Iron Man or Transformers but it didn't. But as what Chrystal said, there were a few eye-candies to see (like Hugh Jackman's butt LOL!). I actually liked Ryan Reynolds more and omg, Daniel Henney! LW said Taylor Kitsch who acted as Gambit looks like a younger version of Johnny Depp. I think so too:) Overall still an okay movie to watch.

Random things 2
Arts For Grabs is back again and it's happening this coming weekend. I'm going to make a trip to Annexe this Saturday since it's a public holiday to check out what Art For Grabs are offering this time around :)

OR

If you're currently in Auckland, NZ (I wish I am *sigh*) you can check this out.
Ming who's my senior in WSD and also Sky's other half is having an art exhibition at OUI Boutique. Makes me wonder when will I have the chance to have a solo exhibition as well...

Random things 3
Found this via FFFOUND! today.

I looooove this dress! Love the colours, love the bold geometric shapes!

Hahaha...I love this one too :)

Random things 4
They made it to the Champions League final again YESH! I only managed to watch a preview of the goals online and that free kick scored by C. Ronaldo was super cantik bah. They'll be facing Barca in 3 weeks time and I gotta say, it'll be an interesting match to watch. Can't wait!

Random things 5
The weather today was so friggin' hot can die! Had to bring the new students for a campus tour as well as distributing the timetables to them. I am looking forward for the new semester to start but still very much worried cos I am not fully prepared yet. Got to know that I'll be teaching a new subject and I am actually worried about it too! But I'll get through it. I know I can! YES! Well, at least I hope so la hehe...

Random things 6
I also got a new haircut today and it was inspired by Jenny Humphrey of Gossip Girl. I have a virgin hair, meaning that I've never ever dye or curl or straighten it before but then maybe I should try dyeing it this time around just to try out something new. I'll post a picture of the new hair-do when I have the time to do so cos I totally suck in being a cam-whore and showing things like my new hair style.

Can't wait for the weekend to come...aight, that's all for today. Bai!

May

This post was written on May 4th, 2009.
Does anyone of you remember the band Hanson? If no, then Imma smack your head right now! *Kidding* I‘ve mentioned it before that I was once a super major fan of ‘em and I still am but probably not as crazy as during my teeny-bopper era back then. Anyho, Taylor Hanson (the middle and my most favourite Hanson member) recently started a new band as his side project. His band is called Tinted Windows and this band consists of James Iha, the American-Jap guitarist of Smashing Pumpkins/A Perfect Circle, Adam Schlesinger, the bassist of Fountains Of Wayne and Ivy and Bun E. Carlos of the 1970’s band Cheap Trick.

Did some research on Cheap Trick and you know the theme song for That 70’s Show that goes like “Hanging out…down the street…” Yeah, I love singing it when the show is starting. Well, Cheap Trick performed it. When I first listened to their(Tinted Windows) song Kind Of Girl, I was sorta having second thoughts because it sounded very 80’s New Wave-ish kind of music but then after listening to it for few more times, I am starting to get the hang of it and I actually liked that song. Well, maybe it may sound too pop-ish if you ask someone like my brother to hear it but hey…it pleases my ears just like Hanson’s music so me likey :DDD

Who would’ve thought that after all these years, Taylor Hanson can still make my heart skip whenever I hear him sing muahahaha…and he’s married with four children in tow some more! The Jo Bros can just suckkkk it haha. I’m sure Taylor is still with his original band, Hanson and Tinted Windows is just one of his side projects…you know like how Mike Shinoda has a hip-hop project called Fort Minor kind of thing. Good for him to try something new lah.

I’ve wanted to do a long post for quite sometime but I wasn’t able to find the right time to do so. Thought of doing it once the semester break starts but then I little did I know I had so much work waiting for me to complete. So this time around, I’ll try my very best to write whatever things that I’ve been wanting to write here and to make things easier, I’ll divide it to several sub-topics.

Current status
Well, the reason why I was insanely busy the week before was because of the ISO external audit. If you ask me what exactly is this ‘external audit’ thing, well I don’t think I’ll be able to explain it well since it was completely a new thing for me too! So I’ve been helping out with the documentations, lecture kits, course outlines and lots of other paper works that I am way to lazy to elaborate. Many times I was on the verge to say F*ck this shit! And totally gave myself up in doing all the paper works but eventually, with a lot of willpower and force, I managed to keep calm and carry on.

This morning I was inside the conference room together with some of my colleagues to sit in the external audit session. The weird thing was, I was absolutely calm throughout the session even when the auditor asked me questions. I was thinking, why am I not nervous or paranoid when I am sitting here? Guess the most obvious reason was my mind wasn’t functioning well, seeing that I didn’t get that much sleep due to that stupid insomnia I had last night.

Luckily the entire audit session went pretty well and I wasn’t bombarded with more questions after that so everything’s A-OK now I hope. So right now, with one more week to go before the new semester starts I need to catch up with some other remaining tasks as well as to be prepared mentally and physically to embrace the new students next week. Last month, one of my goals to achieve was to learn silk-screen printing but unfortunately, I’ve no time for that now so I gotta do my own research on this. Sigh. That pretty much sums up my current status right now. Haven’t been going out much lately including the weekly yamcha session because I think Ivan was busy getting himself drunk with his other alco-friends.

Blogging
From time to time, I’ve been contemplating on whether I should make my blog in private mode or not since I’ve discovered some of the students knew the existence of this blog and even linked my URL into their blog list. It’s not exactly a big deal to be honest but the thing is, I felt that this blog of mine doesn’t even give motivation or inspiration to them because if you’ve been reading my blog for a while you would know that I don’t really write stuffs on politics or world issues or inspirational stuffs (but I am not not that ignorant on the current world news fyi) but instead I like to write about my daily life, what I’ve been up to, football matches that involve Manchester United or even my current TV dramas addiction. Part of the reason is because I feel more comfortable writing stuffs about this.

Maybe I’m just worried what the students would think about me since being an “educator” means you eventually have to set a good example to ‘em as well as being the role model. So yeap, I don’t really know what can the students get in reading my blog but if they REALLY did find it somewhat amusing, then I sincerely say THANK YOU! Probably you guys should read LW’s blog since he writes so well that I myself can’t even figure out what he’s trying to say most of the time.

Another reason for contemplation is because sometimes people might misinterpret on what I am trying to say. For example if I write about an issue for person A, person B might think that particular issue is subjected to him/her…get what I mean? So that’s why, susah bah to please everybody kan?

American Idol
Hahaha…okay la, this is not exactly important but since I watch this show every week I guess it is something worthy for me to blog about. My favourite contestant is definitely Danny Gokey BUT I’ve developed a liking for Kris Allen because he has this absolutely charming smile that I lurve so much and even though he might not have the super power vocals like Adam Lambert or Danny, I still like him :) I like how he doesn’t really need to go over the top (like Adam haha) but yet still managed to do a good performance. Anyway, I still think Adam will win this season lah seeing how he gets a lot of good praises and Simon Cowell even gave him a standing ovation, which I know is pretty rare for him to do so.

Insomnia
Well, what else is new huh? I might as well give up in finding the cure to this.

The next episode
Because everything seems to be mundane lately, I’ve taken a break on thinking/planning about my future or things that I want to do next. I guess I’m just currently living my life as it is right now and will resume to think about what my future holds when I’m ready again.

Aah…hope this post is long enough lah. I believe that there are still some other things that I wanna write about but I just can’t think of any more right now. Will just save it for another day. Since it's the month of May, I shall write down my monthly goals which I know I won't really have the chance to achieve it but I still need to try don't I?

Okay, this month I want to:
1) Do a painting and give it to one of my bestie who's celebrating her birthday in two weeks time.
2) Find more notes and new references for teaching purposes.
3) Continue practicing InDesign.
4) Celebrate Kaamatan together with Anne and family if possible.
5) Watch at least one football match of MU before the EPL season ends.
6) Sleep early if possible.
7) Be motivated.

Yeap, I'll try to find more things to write soon. Really wanna make my blog lively again.

Seriously insomniac

Oh man, it's like 3:45am on a Monday morning and why on earth am I still awake when I need to be in the office at 9am sharp later? My insomnia is seriously getting way out of hand now. I know I've been having it for quite sometime now but last week, the insomnia totally hit me like a flash lightning. Okay I think part of the reason was because last week was a super stressed out week at work so when I reached home I still get worried about it and even dreamt about not finishing my work hence the reason of not being able to sleep.

Anyway, as I was tossing and turning in bed earlier trying to sleep, I kept on hearing a cat meowing outside and it has been going on for a while. So being the curious george I was, I got up and opened my bedroom door and to my utter surprise I saw a cat standing next to the kitchen door! It probably managed to get inside through the kitchen window. When I tried shooing the cat, suddenly a kitten appeared out of nowhere. WTF!!! I tried shooing them again but they ran and hid under the cushion. As I reached the living room, I was welcomed with another surprise. Two freshly made poops! WTFFFFFFF!

After few seconds of delivering foul words to the air, I've no choice but to clean it up lah. So boys and girls, the moral of this story is, always make sure your kitchen windows are closed when you're not around or else you might be greeted by poops -___-

Great it's 4am. Will try to get some sleep now so wish me luck heh.
